Is it too much to ask?

Is it too much to ask clothes companies to come up with a standard of sizing? I just went through my 50+ pairs of jeans, cords, chinos and dress pants. I'm a solid size 6 and you'd think it would be as easy as sorting out the sizes. But noooo. Some size 6's were falling off me and some were so tight it gave me a muffin top.

So now my closet has a few size 2's (ok, that number just makes me giddy so I don't mind those!), a bunch of size 4's and 6's, and a couple size 8's. Really? Please explain how I can be a size 2 and a size 8 at the same time. It's not the fit either, because I like and wear the basic same fit/style with all my pants.

I just packed away two boxes. A very small box labeled "too small" and a huge box labeled "too big". The big box has lots of pants I needed during my transition phases before and after maternity, so I doubt I will have to delve into those again. If any of you would like to get some new pants, sizes 10-14, let me know and I will ship them out to you free of charge. They are all in great condition. I have mostly jeans and different colored chinos, gap, old navy and jcrew. If you are interested, leave a comment here or drop me an email, my addy is in my profile.

Oh, I also have a ton of "work" tops - buttoned down 3/4 sleeved. All sizes. I can't use them anymore due to me being full sleeved now. So they all are now up for grab.

It is so nice being all organized. I have all my summer things stored away in my wardrobe hanger in my garage, all put away nicely in plastic. My closet now consists of only my winter wardrobe and the best thing? Everything FITS. No more sifting through tons of clothes that don't fit right or I simply didn't wear. My god. I bought a lot of clothes when I used to have the money. Funny how things change when you lose a well paying job. Oh the money I wasted! That's over now. I only buy things I ~need~ AND things I not only like, but things I know I will actually get some use out of.

Did you know jcrew is not made for women with breasts? I'm only a 32/34 C and lots of shirts that fit great everywhere else, the buttons are strained to fit over my chest. That's ridiculous. I feel for you ladies out there who are larger than a C cup. The problems you must go through to find proper fitting shirts.

Remember, drop me a line of you are interested in any of my clothes. Tell me what size you are looking for and I will get back to you with exactly what I have available. I would much rather give them away to a good home in our IF community than send them off to goodwill or sell them for a few bucks at my upcoming Spring garage sale.

Speaking of garage sales ... Have you ever given away something to someone, only to find out they sold it in their own garage sale or on eBay? I have had that happen to me before and it is irritating as all hell. Look, if what I gave you didn't work out, give it back so I can recoup some of my money. It's simple éttiquate. I think some people are born without that gene. That or they are just assholes. ~wink~

Hey Nancy! Sounds like you have been busy organizing!

I would love to take some of the clothes off your hands. Size 14? Unfortunately that is where I am right now.

I feel bad not paying you. Are you sure about the whole free of charge??

So good to see you blogging again!

Hi Nancy! Good to have you back from hiatus! WTG on getting so trim, I am definitely jealous. I need to get going and finally lose the last 10 pounds I've been meaning to lose for... um... 15 months ;P

I'd love any of the 10/12 pants you are offering up :) But are you sure about the free-of-charge thing? That's so generous of you!

My addy is: empberry (at) gmail (dot) com.

I know what you mean about the size thing. I am a solid 8 right now but I have clothes in my closet that fit from 6 to 12. I think stores like to mess with their sizes on purpose. Especially expensive stores... I bet they put their sizes larger so you can buy a smaller size at their store and it plays to your vanity. Just a thought...?

I'm glad you're back, by the way!

Hmm, I just tried to email you but it shot it back to me. I'd love to take some 10/12's off of your hands! I'm a super broke student that needs clothes. I'd be more than willing to pay for shipping, it's the least I could do.

Woot for being organized!! That is such a great feeling!!

I've had one of my SIL's give me things while I was pregnant, later tell me she was just loaning me them (she didn't tell me when she gave them to me) then ask for the items back before I was done with them so that she could sell them. Had I known she wanted them back & she wanted them for the $ I would have rather bought the items myself and not had to deal with her. bah.

Being organized is fantastic! I need to get on that at some point, lol!
I am hoping I am a 10 in my transition after baby.. last time I went from 12's very very slowly down to an 8. Unfortunately I only got to enjoy the 8's for about 4 months (although it is a happy sacrifice!)

I will need to reevaluate my work clothes situation but I have a feeling that won't be happening until the fall at least!

I go through the same thing with pumpkin's clothes too- and this ones will probably be the same! I would much rather hand them to someone I ~know~ needs them than drop off at a goodwill or try to organize a yard sale. I consider it good clothes karma & so far it's been working! Pumpkin & 2.0 have received lots of generous hand-me-downs!

I just emailed you, but see now that everything is already spoken for. Still wanted to thank you for the generosity, and welcome you back to blogging. We've missed you!

Women with breasts = not wearing things with buttons, or not doing them up. I'm a 38D, when not pregnant, and I rarely wear anything that buttons up. I have a lot that DO, I just wear them open over a tank top or t-shirt. Buttons are NOT my friend, for the very reason that they gape and/or fly off! Same goes for bras that clasp in front - one deep breath and it pops open. Had *that* particular fun happen in a bar twice in one night...and I was a little smaller then!

I think we're the same size, I have some 2s, 4s and 6s and they all fit. I don't get it either with the sizes.
Clearly I should shop at jcrew, I have NO breasts and can't find any shirts to fit me right!

I get so frustrated myself! I am a size 6 by women's standards, yet I have a bunch of work pants I stupidly bought when I was still losing baby weight after my 2nd -- they are size 6. Yet, they fall off of me now, so I'm thinking I should've bought a 4? Don't even get me started on Old Navy. I have THREE pairs I bought, thinking they'd fit -- 2 are size 8 and 1 is size 6 and they are all way too big. I look like a gangsta when I wear them. I think most 6s do fit me, but a 7 in juniors is definitely tight. It makes me feel fat when I try on juniors stuff, yet I know I'm not (I'm average, 5'7" and 127 when not pg yet while BFing, and 137 when I am neither pg nor BFing).

If you want to offer up any work tops that are size Medium, I'll take some! :) I have a ton of sweaters and a ton of short-sleeved stuff, but not a lot of in-between.

Also, I would PayPal you for shipping or whatever you'd want for the shirts. I can't just take something for free that you take the time to package up!

ETA: LMAO, I read up higher on your comments and see your stuff is spoken for. Good for you! Feels good to organize.

I got burned this past spring. Ugh. I had a WHOLE bag of stuff to take to Goodwill and Rob throught it was trash and threw it out! It made me mad because it was all in good condition. Oh well...
